What I'm Watching | June/July

Along with lipsticks, coffee and the Red Hot Chili Peppers bingeing a good TV shows or having a movie night is one of my favourite things. Today I thought i'd take a break from chatting all things beauty and talk about some things i've been watching recently.

I've been saving this in my Netflix watch list for when I needed something new to watch. The series is based around Aziz Ansari's character and as a Parks and Recreation fan I was happy to see him create his own show. It is about the professional and personal life of Dev (Ansari) and 30 year old actor living in New York. The backdrop of one of my favourite cities definitely helped me to love this show but I also liked how it felt like a different take on a somewhat overdone genre of young people struggling to get their lives together. I really liked the way they did flashbacks to Dev as a child and the fact each episode could stand alone very well.

I was blown away by the first season of Mr Robot, so much show I watched it twice. We're a few episodes into season 2 and it is just as good. The plot is about a group of hackers trying to get rid of all debt. The central character played by Rami Malek is one of the best performances i've seen in a long time. Season 2 has put even more of a focus on Elliot's (Malek) personally identity struggles surrounding his upbringing. If you're looking for a show to get completely hooked on this is definitely the one.

I watched this film last year and loved it so decided to watch it again. Comet is the film debut of Sam Esmail; the creator of Mr Robot and stars Emmy Rossum and Justin Long as the main characters. The film is set in parallel universes going back and forth of a couples six year relationship. I love that this feels like a new take on a story about relationships and the fact that it does go back and forth all the time keeps you interested. The film is beautifully shot and there is good chemistry between the two leads.

This is a film i've been meaning to watch for a long time and i'm so glad I finally watched it. Written by Paul Thomas Anderson the film follows a naval veteran (Joaquin Phoenix) was has returned home from war and is uncertain about his future. He becomes involved with The Cause and it's leader (Philip Seymor Hoffman). The film is long but is well passed. I really liked the way it was shot and the scenes between Freddie (Phoenix) and The Master (Hoffman) are so incredible and make the movie. The film is really well acted which helps to keep you interested in the storyline.

So those are a few things i've been watching recently. I'm currently watching the show Billions which so far i'm enjoying. I'm always looking for new things to watch so if you have any recommendation for shows and interesting indie films I would love to hear them.
