SKINCARE PREP:
When you're on the beach it's easy to remember SPF, where as in a city you might forget but it can be just as hot. The one i've been loving all Summer is the Piz Buin Ultra Light Dry Touch Fluid SPF 30. This is a very light cream that leaves an almost matte finish. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and is the perfect SPF to use under makeup. It gets hot and humid in a city so I love facial spray. A great one is the Avene Thermal Spring Water spray. This is just a water spray but is really refreshing and cools you down quickly without leaving your face wet.
THE BASE:
The best longwearing, oil controlling base i've found is the L'oreal Infallible 24H-Matte foundation. For a matte foundation this doesn't cling to dry patches or look cakey. Applied with a damp sponge it leaves a nice finish and lasts all day. The shade range isn't great but if you can find one that matches you this stuff is pretty amazing.
EASY EYES:
For eyes I like something that is easy and lasts really well. This is where cream eyeshadows that also act as eye primers are the best. A cheap option is the Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather Effect in Creamy Beige which is a nice pale brown colour. This looks great alone or with a shimmery shadow over top. An old favourite is the MAC Groundwork Paint Pot which is a darker shade but gives a similar effect. I like to wear this alone for an easy day look then add some shadows on top for a more dramatic night look.
BRIGHT LIPS:
Finally to finish the look off I like a bright lip. A bright lip colour can make a simply makeup look seem more put together. I love the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lip creams. These last really well and are matte without feeling dry on the lips. Ole Flamingo! is a lovely bright pink and Peach Club is bright peach colour which is actually very wearable for the day time.
So those are some city break beauty essentials. All of these last really well and will create a quick makeup look perfect for a long day in a city. What are some of your beauty essentials when you're going to be in a hot city all day?
